5/29/13 Deads

Pulled in briefs. I like pulling in briefs better than my DL suit. I was doing triples again this week. They felt really good and I almost got a third locked at 545. On that last rep I started leaning over the bar and it got out in front of me and I got messed up at the top. But, that was some really good work for me considering how bad my deads have been the last year or so. I had the boys with me and they wanted to leave before we got to the gym so I pulled and went home. I've got the bench meet in two weeks so its probably good to cut back just a little.

Last two weeks bench...

Two weeks ago I finally hit 600 in the gym...  I'm doing a bench only meet on June 15. This is my second attempt...  We'll see.
This week was more shirt work. 540x2 to half board, 580 to one board, and 625 to a three board. 

Squats the last couple weeks...

I've been sucking keeping my log up. The last couple weeks I went from doing a full meet to back to bench only, which was the plan anyway...  So two weeks ago I decided to go full gear and see what would happen. Everything felt awesome. I hadn't been in gear since the Arnold. I decided to push it a little. I worked up to 725 and it was pretty good. They were all a little high but oh well. I put the reverse average bands on and took 775 and it felt really easy. So I attempted a PR reverse band 855...  Missed it out of the bottom. I didn't think it was too bad considering I hadn't squatted in gear for two months.
This week I wore briefs and worked up to around 600 for triples. Leg press, GHR, and extensions finished it off. 
Should be caught up now...

I'm putting on a push/pull in August here in Fort Myers. Here's one of the flyers we've put together.

5/15/2013 Deadlifts

Worked up with threes. I decided to add in some chains for fun. Ended up with 495 + 49 lbs of chains for a good 3. Tried 495 with 98 lbs of chains and got one...  Mindy yanked the chains off and I did two more.
Finished with normal stuff...
Mindy kicked some ass tonight. 315 block pull PR and got some good work in. She's getting really good with her pulls.
I cant put videos on this anymore...  Weird...

5/11/13 Squats

Goal was for a top set of three. I wasn't sure how things would go. Warming up I was so stiff I couldn't get down and everything felt like crap. As I worked up things started feeling better. I ended up getting 485 for a solid three. I hate raw training and really have no clue where my raw numbers are but this was definitely a PR.
I went to leg presses, good mornings, and some extensions to finish off.


5/12/13 Shirted Bench

Today started my mini training cycle for a bench only I'm doing on June 15. I got my shirt on and could tell it was tighter than before. It's been two months since I've had it on. So, the plan to get stronger and a little bigger is working. I did triples off of a three board up to 515. Everything felt pretty good. I have moved my feet out and am trying that set up out.  So far it felt pretty good. I'd love to work in a trip to Jax so Brian and the guys up there can tweak it but I doubt I'll be able to in the next few weeks.

Next was my favorite...reverse band-close grip-3 board presses for triples. I love these. Worked up to 605 pretty easy. Outside of the weight just feeling heavy on my hands it moved really well. Did two sets of twenty incline db presses and some band flys and I was finished. Next week ill push a little further especially on the rb cg presses.


5/8/13 Deadlifts

Total deviation from the plan...  Everything was feeling so good warming up that I decided to throw my suit on and go for some heavy geared singles. I worked up to a pretty easy 585 which by no means is impressive but, I hadn't pulled that much in the gym in over a year. So, with everything else going up my dreads are too. I'm really looking forward to getting in my gear and working.

May 5 2013 Bench

Raw benching...  The day went really well.  I am completely confused at my raw strength.  I cant even begin to estimate where I am.  During the training cycle for the Arnold I benched 365 for a single and it felt like crap so that's what I called my 1RM.  Today I worked up to a top set of 4.  I thought probably 340 would be a good number but it was super easy.  So, I took 350 and I got a solid 4...  Who says you cant get stronger (raw) while training in gear...
Mindy worked up to a raw 1RM.  200 ended up being it.
We are both training for a RPS meet in Ft. Lauderdale on June 15.  I will be benching only and Mindy hasn't completely decided.  She may do full power raw or geared...  Not sure yet, waiting on some new gear to get here.

May 3 2013 Squats

Went to Chads garage (North Port Barbell) on Friday to squat so I could go to New Port Richey Saturday for the APF Gulf Coast Championships.  RAW...  Worked up to a top set of 4 which ended up being around 435.  I wanted to go a little higher but with deadlifts Wednesday I was still a little fatigued.  Did some good mornings, leg extensions and some planks.
Saturday was a blast.  We went up Friday night and stayed at the worst hotel I have ever seen...  Total dump.  The meet was a lot of fun.  Brian Carroll had a couple of people competing.  Filipe Gusmao trains with Team Samson and he had a big day.  PR's on the squat and bench.  He went for a big PR pull for a elite total and missed it and was upset.  But, a squat, bench, and total PR of over a 100 Lbs. is a pretty damn good day.  He also won best lightweight lifter...

Deload

The last week has been a deload week so not much to report. 50% for threes then normal accessories.
Body weight is finally back above 280 consistently. I feel really good with just some general tightness. Rolling and my stim unit are dealing with that.
Tomorrow we are squatting, a day early so we can head to New Port Richey to the APF Gulf Coast meet Saturday.
